Rome Film Fest and a new idea of travel

The Rome Film Fest brings an international audience to the Italian capital every year, including actors, directors, producers, distributors, film industry professionals, journalists and guests arriving in Rome for a few days or for a packed schedule of events. The 21st edition of the Rome Film Fest will take place from October 13 to 25, 2026, with the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone at the heart of the event, alongside a programme involving other cultural venues and locations across the city. But during the Rome Film Fest, Rome can also become the starting point for a wider journey. For an international guest, a premiere may be just one part of an itinerary that includes dinner on the Amalfi Coast, a few days in Capri, a meeting in Naples or a stay in Sorrento. It is in this space, between the festival schedule and the desire to experience Italy beyond the festival itself, that the helicopter takes on an interesting role. Not simply as a means of transport, but as a way of connecting Rome with some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic destinations.

Rome during the Rome Film Fest: when time becomes part of the itinerary

The Rome Film Fest has its own particular rhythm. A day may begin with a professional meeting, continue with an interview, press conference or screening, and end with a dinner or private event. For those arriving from abroad, all of this often has to fit around a return flight or a second destination in Italy. The private jets and helicopters for the Rome Film Fest allow actors, productions, executives and international guests to organise arrivals and movements in the capital before continuing to other Italian destinations, building the itinerary around the festival schedule. In this context, a private jet can be used to build the journey around the guest’s schedule, while a helicopter can become the means of continuing quickly from Rome towards a coastal destination. This does not necessarily mean replacing every transfer with a flight. The appeal of private aviation lies instead in the possibility of combining different segments: an international arrival by private jet, time in Rome during the Rome Film Fest, and a subsequent helicopter departure towards Campania.

The helicopter as a natural extension of the Rome Film Fest

In Rome, a helicopter does not necessarily have to be associated with a transfer between an airport and a hotel. During the Rome Film Fest in particular, its more interesting role can be to connect the capital with a destination that would otherwise require a lengthy journey by road. For an actor who needs to be in Rome in the afternoon and would like to spend the evening in Capri, a producer with an appointment in the capital before heading to the Amalfi Coast, or an international guest who has included Naples in their itinerary, the flight can become part of the overall planning. Chartering a helicopter naturally requires advance verification of aircraft availability, suitable heliports, authorisations, passengers, baggage and operating conditions. For this reason, each request is assessed as a specific aviation operation.

From Rome to Capri: the sea after the red carpet

Capri is perhaps one of the most natural extensions of a journey built around the Rome Film Fest. After a day spent between screenings, meetings and events in the capital, the island offers a complete change of scenery without leaving Italy. The helicopter flight from Rome to Capri can be considered by those wishing to continue their itinerary to the island, subject to operational availability and the authorised departure and arrival points. It is a different way of imagining the journey after the festival: leaving Rome behind and, within a few hours, finding yourself in the Mediterranean landscape that has provided the backdrop for generations of Italian and international cinema.

From Rome to Ravello, from the city to the Amalfi Coast

The Rome Film Fest can also be an opportunity to create an itinerary that brings together two very different images of Italy: the cultural and cinematic character of Rome and the Amalfi Coast. The helicopter flight from Rome to Ravello can be considered by those wishing to reach the Amalfi Coast after their Rome Film Fest commitments, turning a professional stay in the capital into a more extensive journey. Ravello, with its gardens, sea-view terraces and historic architecture, offers an almost cinematic contrast to the rhythm of the Auditorium and the red carpet. It is precisely this possibility of moving, within the same journey, from urban culture to Mediterranean scenery that makes a helicopter solution particularly interesting.

For actors, producers and international guests: continuity matters

During the Rome Film Fest, movements can be numerous and very different from one another. An actor may have a premiere, an interview and a dinner on the same day. A producer may need to meet partners in different locations. An executive may arrive in Rome for a single appointment and leave again just a few hours later. A helicopter can be particularly useful when continuity throughout the schedule needs to be maintained. Rather than treating each transfer as a separate element, the journey can be planned as a whole, coordinating the flight, ground transfers, luggage, timings and subsequent destinations. This approach can be particularly valuable for personal assistants, executive assistants, travel managers and family offices arranging an international guest’s stay during the Rome Film Fest and bringing together very different requirements within a single itinerary.

When private jet and helicopter work together

The real value of private aviation during the Rome Film Fest can emerge from combining different aircraft. The private jet can cover the main international or domestic journey, while the helicopter can handle one of the subsequent segments. A guest can therefore arrive in Italy by private jet, spend one or more days in Rome for the Rome Film Fest and then continue to Capri, Ravello, Naples or Sorrento by helicopter. Alternatively, the helicopter can be used at the beginning of the journey, with the private jet handling the subsequent international departure. The network of helicopter flights in Italy makes it possible to consider different configurations depending on the destination, the aircraft available and the passenger’s requirements. There is therefore no standard itinerary for the Rome Film Fest: each operation is built around the specific characteristics of the journey.

The less visible side of a helicopter flight

Behind a seemingly simple route lies a planning process that is often invisible to the passenger. It is necessary to establish which operator can perform the flight, which helicopter is available, which heliports can be used, the number and weight of the passengers, the luggage and the expected weather conditions. During the Rome Film Fest, when aircraft availability can be particularly important, planning ahead makes it possible to consider more alternatives. A well-structured request already contains the essential information needed to assess the feasibility of the operation. Civil aviation operations are subject to the applicable regulations and the supervision of the relevant authorities. In Italy, ENAC is the authority responsible for technical regulation, certification, supervision and control in civil aviation. The actual feasibility of each flight is therefore verified with the appointed operator before confirmation.

One Rome to experience, and an Italy to reach

The Rome Film Fest is first and foremost a film event, with screenings, meetings, events and moments dedicated to both the public and industry professionals. For those arriving from further afield, however, it can also become a gateway to a wider journey through Italy. Rome can be the setting for the premiere and Capri the destination for the following day. The Auditorium can be the centre of the day’s commitments and Ravello the destination that evening. Naples can become a professional stop, while Sorrento can be the final destination of a stay on the coast. This is the perspective from which to consider a helicopter during the Rome Film Fest: not simply as an alternative to travelling by car, but as a way of shaping an itinerary in which cinema, cities and the Italian landscape become part of the same journey.

Organising a flight during the Rome Film Fest

Organising a flight for the Rome Film Fest starts with the passenger’s actual schedule: the time of the premiere, professional commitments, number of passengers, luggage, arrival or departure airport and subsequent destination. FlairFly coordinates the aviation solution with certified operators, verifying availability and the feasibility of the request. The aim is to build an itinerary that fits the guest’s schedule, whether it involves a single flight or a journey connecting Rome with the Amalfi Coast and the main destinations in Campania. For the official programme and updates on the Rome Film Fest, you can consult the website of Fondazione Cinema per Roma. Frequently Asked Questions about private jet and helicopter flights for the Rome Film Fest

Can I organise a helicopter flight even if I do not know which heliport is most suitable?

Yes. You do not need to know in advance which heliport to use. Depending on the destination, timings and passenger requirements, FlairFly verifies the most suitable solution with the operator and, when necessary, also coordinates the transfer connected with the flight.

Can I arrive in Rome by private jet and continue by helicopter to another destination?

Yes. A private jet and helicopter can be combined within the same itinerary. For example, a guest can arrive in Rome by private jet and continue by helicopter to Capri, Ravello, Naples or Sorrento, with any necessary transfers between the different points of the journey also coordinated.

How flexible can a helicopter flight be during the Rome Film Fest?

It depends on the operator’s availability, the aircraft and the schedule for the day. For this reason, it is useful to provide the times of any appointments, possible waiting periods and the time by which you need to arrive at your destination when making the request.

Can I arrange a flight to a destination other than Rome after a festival event?

Yes. The itinerary can be built around the passenger’s schedule. After Rome, for example, a helicopter flight to Capri, Ravello, Naples or Sorrento can be considered, or several segments can be combined depending on the programme.

What information should I provide when requesting a flight for the Rome Film Fest?

The essential information is sufficient: date, approximate timings, departure point, destination, number of passengers and luggage. If there are appointments at specific times, privacy requirements, professional equipment or other constraints, it is useful to mention them from the outset to allow a more accurate feasibility check.

Can you organise a flight for an international guest who is not familiar with Rome?

Yes. We can coordinate the aviation side of the itinerary while taking into account the guest’s arrival and departure times, appointments during the Rome Film Fest and any connections with other flights. When necessary, we can also arrange transfers connected with the flights.

What happens if the number of passengers or the luggage changes?

It is important to communicate any changes as soon as possible. The number of passengers and, in particular, the quantity and dimensions of the luggage can affect the choice of aircraft. FlairFly can therefore verify the solution again with the operator before the final confirmation.

Is it possible to arrange a same-day return flight?

Yes, when the operator’s availability and the operational schedule allow it. You can include your preferred departure, time at the destination and return times in the request so that a solution compatible with the passenger’s schedule can be assessed.

How far in advance should I arrange a helicopter during the Rome Film Fest?

It is advisable to plan ahead, particularly for the busiest dates and for itineraries involving multiple segments or specific requirements. An early request makes it easier to check availability, timings, aircraft and services connected with the flight.

Can FlairFly also coordinate the transfer connected with the flight?

Yes. When we organise the flight, we can also coordinate the necessary transfer between the airport or heliport and the planned destination, connecting the aviation element with the rest of the itinerary in an organised way.
